24 hour theatre returns

September 5, 2008

Hi all

It is once again Steven here to tell everyone about a very special event that made an appearance last year but in the spring, That’s right 24 hour theatre has returned.

What is 24 hour theatre one might ask?

Well, put simply it is an event which Waldorf Theater Department came up with last year in which student write produce build sets for, find properties for,  do lights, sound, and act in, and all of it is done in a span of 24 hours.

But we do have a special treat for all those that are returning students who were at this event last year but unfortunately I can not spill the beans on what this special surprise is.

24 hour theatre will start tomorrow at 6:30 pm down in the black box and will run through Saturday at 7:30 pm when these original plays are performed in Smith Theater.

So if you like seeing original plays being performed and for the returning students if you want to find out what that surprise is. Then come watch us perform on Saturday night again at 9:30 in Smith Theater.

Until next post,

Steven Van Overbeke

Assistant Theatre Manager for the Waldorf College Theater Department

Hi Guys,

Well, another year has started and what a busy year it has been already. We  already have many things started in terms of events and many more to come. We just had a great start with theatre camp in which we were able to accomplish a lot such as training of our new freshmen and even casting our first show Tag Team during the theatre camp.

Right now, however, let me tell you what events the Theater Department has on it’s plate for the next few weeks.

First, we have an event that was a great success coming up this weekend 24 hour theatre which will be the same as last year where we write produce build direct do PR for and act in original plays. All of this of course done as the name of the event implies in 24 hours. That event is again this weekend with the Kickoff being tomorrow night September 5th at 6:30 pm then on Sept 6th at 7:30pm we will have the performances of these original plays in  Smith Theater.

After the fun of this weekend we then have another important event coming up that being Auditions for our second play of the season which is William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.  Which will be held on Monday September 8th from 6-8pm in the Waldorf College Theatre Black Box.

Following that, the Waldorf Theater Department will also be holding an informational meeting for the London trip we have planned for May term of 2009. This meeting will be on September 10th for anyone interested in Smith Theater and will be from 5-6:30p

After that we have our final event for this month the world premier of the new original play by Dr. Robert AuFrance: Tag Team  More details about that event will come  later.

So, as everyone can see we will be very busy here in the Theater Department with all we have to do and events that we have to get ready for. Yet, I know that the people in this department will make all these events that are about to happen and will be happening as fun and exciting as all of last year’s events were.

So until next post,
